Corporate & Social Responsibility Policy
"We allocate 1% of our time to community, charitable and environmental causes. Everyone is encouraged to get involved in the activities, from planning to execution.
We make donations directly or as matched funds for those raised by others. If we can combine funds with volunteering, so much the better."
Nick Smith, Chair at Eleven
Business Declares
Eleven is proud to have joined Business Declares.

Business Declares is a not-for-profit organisation formed by experienced senior leaders, with a business members network underpinned by their commitment towards tackling the climate, ecological and social polycrisis in their businesses, and advocating for systemic change and a just transition.
Our Business Declares declaration
In acknowledgment of the escalating, interdependent crises the world faces, and together with other Business Declares members, we declare there is a climate, ecological and social emergency.
We make this declaration with urgency and in certainty that the impacts these crises will have on our society and economy, let alone the environment, will be near-term, fundamental and far reaching for all including ourselves, our business and our stakeholders.
Our declaration, in line with the Business Declares Manifesto, and building on our plans and progress to date, is underpinned by our commitment to:
- Publish our transition plan, which will outline how we will address all three dimensions of the crises through our core business activities, both to mitigate the impact on us all and to improve our organisational resilience; and
- Use the power of our individual and collective voices to advocate for policy changes and other transformations necessary to catalyse meaningful action in recognition that the current system with its prioritisation of short-term economic returns and growth is failing us.
Doing this in solidarity with others will have far greater power, and so please join us: https://businessdeclares.com.
Together, let's join forces and create the future we want.
Community
We look to support and tackle social challenges in the Manchester area including homelessness, food poverty and youth disenfranchisement.
Over the past few years, we have donated tens of thousands to various charities in the North West including: Wood Street Mission, Booth Centre, Mustard Tree, Save the Children, MIND, Coffee4Craig and Speed of Sight.
Workplace
Eleven encourage 1% of time out of the office working together to support charities that are close to our hearts, allowing us to build better connections with our colleagues whilst providing support to our local community.
We have volunteered hundreds of hours at Greenhills Farm, with the Cheshire Wildlife Project on their rewilding activities.

Environment
Our 100-year role within the energy transition, since the days of our parent company Ashley & Dumville, means we have a keen eye on the climate and diversity crisis.
As an office based business we’re not great emitters of greenhouse gases but we believe it is good practice to measure and manage our carbon footprint annually and aim to reduce this year on year.
Eleven has volunteered hundreds of hours to supporting environmental projects and collectively donated thousands to green causes.
