Graduate Chemist (Cambridge)

We are working with a growing clean-energy start-up developing advanced materials and technologies in the Cambridge area.

THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity for a chemistry graduate to gain hands-on experience in an innovative R&D environment, working alongside experienced scientists and engineers. The role will involve laboratory experimentation, material preparation and characterisation, testing and process improvement.
This role is ideal for a recent Chemistry or Materials Chemistry graduate who is curious, practical and keen to develop as an experimental scientist.

THE ROLE:

• Carry out laboratory experiments safely and reproducibly, including the preparation and handling of chemical reagents, samples and materials.
• Support the synthesis, processing, formulation and testing of advanced materials, using laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Collect, analyse and interpret experimental data, maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Develop and optimise experimental methods, troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous process improvement.
• Work closely with scientists and engineers while supporting laboratory safety and good laboratory practice.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Chemical Sciences or a related discipline, with strong fundamental chemistry knowledge.
• Practical laboratory experience through university, research or industry, with good knowledge of laboratory safety and chemical handling.
• Ability to plan, conduct and document experiments with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
