PPA Origination Manager
We are currently recruiting a PPA Origination Manager to join the Power Marketing development of a global Solar IPP.
The department is responsible for keeping a pulse on energy markets, identifying new opportunities, and originating relationships that lead to power purchase agreements for projects under development. The Power Marketing department works side-by-side with the other key departments, such as development, finance, project finance, legal and asset management, to create value for the client's portfolio through off-take agreements. As such, the Power Marketing department is focused on building and maintaining relationships with internal and external parties, including and not limited to prospective off-takers (utilities, C&I, electro-intensive consumers), existing customers, renewable advisors and sustainability organisations.
Our preference is for the role to be located in the Madrid office (Spain) although we can consider other locations depending on the ideal candidate (UK, Italy, France).
Within the European origination team, The Origination Manager will develop commercial activities in the client's European markets (Spain, Italy, France, Poland, UK and Germany) by scouting and originating long-term energy supply agreements with utility, commercial and industrial customers, and by promoting partnerships with traditional and non-traditional energy purchasers. The successful candidate will evaluate opportunities and relationships from a tactical and financial point of view with the goal of developing new contracting opportunities. The role will support or manage all aspects of power origination, including prospecting, RFPs, bilateral, bid strategy, pricing, screening, PPA negotiations. They will also support market research, promote defined marketing campaigns, and articulate internal and external benchmarks related to renewable energy supply services and new business models.
You should have:
- A track-record of success in originating and negotiating power purchase agreements (PPAs) and strategic partnerships in at least one of the above-mentioned European markets.
- A detailed knowledge of the power markets, key customers and market segments in Europe
- Understanding of and/or ability to address the key power marketing concepts such as solar cannibalisation, basis risk, curtailment, hedging, losses, hybridation, etc.
- Knowledge of market drivers including curtailment practice implications, market participants, supply and demand drivers of renewables, customer practice.
